"It feels like my daughter just lost a year of high school--how do we get back on track for college?”
“My student’s summer academic internship was cancelled--what should he do NOW?"
“My daughter worked so hard to compete on the varsity team- HOW can she be recruited by her top choice colleges?"
Sound familiar?
These are just a few of the messages I’ve gotten from parents hoping to navigate this “new normal” in college admissions.
Today’s students are in a Catch-22 situation.
Extracurricular activity involvement can make — or break — your chances of getting into a top-rated school.
If you’re looking at a private college or university, it can count for as much as 50% of your child’s scoring criteria...
...but how can you participate in Extracurriculars when the whole country has been shut down?
Talk about frustrating!
As a parent, I know you want the best for your child.
You’ve spent the last decade making sure they made smart choices in school, taxied them to and from soccer practice, attended dozens of parent/teacher conferences and probably your fair share of PTA meetings.
You’re in the final stretch...don’t let all that hard work and dedication go to waste by letting these unprecedented times derail your college dreams.
Hi, my name is David Montesano and for the past 20 years I have helped high school students, just like yours, get into their dream college. When I first began, I was termed a “new breed” of college admissions consultant by The Washington Post/Newsweek for my use of business strategy techniques in positioning students for admissions success.”

My students absolutely LOVE their chosen college — and their career choice.
In fact, here’s just a few of our successes:
- 95% of our students gain admission to their dream colleges
- Average scholarship amount per student is $87,000
- $9,000,000 in merit scholarships secured since 2010
The truth is, the old way of choosing a college or university is broken. If you want your child to be both happy and successful in college, you MUST break free from the status quo.

What parents are saying:
“You must talk to him because of his invaluable counsel and advice. My son was admitted to many excellent schools including Grinnell, Carleton, NYU, Whitman, Occidental, Pitzer, BU, Skidmore, Ithaca and others. He is currently a senior in high school and has not made a final choice. The good news - he has many superb choices!”
- Richard Shapiro, College Match Parent
My daughter was accepted to some of the most selective colleges! Saying that David helped us would be to underestimate things. He did a fantastic job. Some colleges (Whittier and Mills) gave her big merit-based scholarships. We definitely would not have had such a great choice of colleges if we had not worked with David.”
- Milena Salmon, parent of Cornell University (Ivy League) student
About David Montesano
I started my business after gaining a global perspective on college during my own university years. I knew the strategies I had learned through my business education had a practical application when it came to getting into school, not only when it came to HOW to apply, but WHERE.
I became the first Admissions Strategist in the United States when I created College Match in 2001. When I first began, I was termed a “new breed” of college admissions consultant by The Washington Post/Newsweek for my use of business strategy techniques in positioning students for admissions success. Since then, I have evolved this unique technique into the Montesano method, focusing on 4 stages of preparing for college admissions: SPARKS, FIRE, VISION, BRAND.

Marty and I just want to thank you so very much for your efforts on getting Michael into college. Because of Michael's alternative school, ho-hum grades, and his learning disabilities, our expectations were uncertain at best. You were really instrumental in steering us in the right direction. To date, Michael has been accepted into five very good colleges, and we have yet to hear from two more. He has not been rejected by any. We are so impressed!
Sincerely, Carole and Marty
P.S. After your last conversation, Michael is already thinking about the benefits of graduate school! What a change from our discouraged son that was afraid that no college would have him!
